Using the Gods to beat the odds.

Confession – 19th Oct ’22

Right – the last of the midweek matches has just finished. Time to have a look at the games that I traded, see what went well, what didn’t, and what could have been done better.

Liverpool vs West Ham
I pretty much went for the scorelines I mentioned in the yesterday’s midweek mass. The goal was scored at a good time in terms of my trades. This allowed me to lay some money off the 2-0 scoreline and remove some liability off the other scorelines. I was hoping for another goal to be scored in Liverpool’s favour but it wasn’t to be. I stayed in until the full time whistle was blown for a small profit of £2.28. I was quite happy with this, considering it could have been a lot different had West Ham scored their penalty.

Brentford vs Chelsea
I added the 1-1 scoreline to the already identified scorelines from the midweek mass, as well as hedging 0-0. I was disappointed no goals were scored before half-time and I found myself in a red position. Halfway through the second half, due to neither side scoring any goals my red position was getting bigger, and it was at that point I decided to trade out for a loss of -£2.18. I could have stayed in all the way until full-time for a profit of 50p, but because I didn’t have 1-0 or 0-1 covered, a goal scored by either side late on in the game would have seen that red position become even bigger. I’ve been in this position a fair few times before, and I’ve always found that you’re better cashing out for a small loss rather than staying in the trade for a possible even bigger loss. There’s nothing worse than staying in a trade and hoping against hope that a goal isn’t scored.

Newcastle vs Everton
In the midweek mass I pointed out that the 1-0 scoreline was the stand-out correct score to select. Foolishly I only hedged it, but I did pick others around this scoreline. There wasn’t much to say about this trade really and it was a pretty basic trade, with me not having to do much. I greened up in this trade for £2.69 and got out of it with still a bit of the game to play. This was the most profitable trade of the evening.

Here’s a image of my trading profit and loss for today:

My trading profit and loss for today, 19th October ’22

Overall I was a little disappointed with my trade in terms of the money earned (£2.79). Especially when you consider how many games I traded and the amounts I’ve managed from previous trades. I think this is down to the fact that I dutched my bets rather than straight bet them. I think going forward I will be looking at doing straight bets rather than doing any dutching. I’ll see if this makes any difference to my bottom line.

Regarding my actual trading I was quite happy with it. I stayed in my trades a lot longer and I didn’t panic as much. I also made sure I had some time put aside to concentrate on my trades, rather than doing two things at once and being distracted. And I also recognised my losing trades and cut them short as soon as I thought was reasonable. I’ve still not experienced a massive loss yet, or a massive win, but it’ll be interesting to see my reaction when I do find myself in that position.

It’ll be very doubtful that I’ll be trading any of the games tomorrow night, so I’ll probably have a look at the weekend’s games in my Friday Night Mass. Until then, take it easy my betting brethren, Amen!
