Time to look back and confess all on what went right and what went wrong on this weekend’s traded Premier League selections:
Man City vs Brentford (Saturday)
I was very confident that City would get all three points in this game, especially when I seen that Haaland, De Bruyne and Foden would be in the starting eleven. My selected scorelines reflected my confidence, but looking back this was misplaced. I will say that at 1-1 going into the final minutes of the game, I was looking at a 75p profit, with an even bigger green on 2-1. For some reason it never really occurred to me that it could have been Brentford that would get the next goal (if there was one) so I didn’t really look at covering the 1-2 scoreline. And that turned out to be my mistake. One goal later and I was looking at a -£11.65 loss. 9 times out of 10 that late goal would have been scored by Man City, so in a way I’m not overly gutted that I stayed in the trade, especially as I’ve been guilty of coming out of games too soon in previous trades and it’s cost me. So I’m not too disappointed with the loss. I just need to assess all dangers going forward and ensure I’ve not exposed myself to too much liability.
Liverpool vs Southampton (Saturday)
All was going swimmingly for this trade. With Liverpool 3-1 up with another half of football to play, I was sure that my AOH trade would come in. Again, due to recent trades having a tendency of coming good after I had already traded out, I decided to stay in the trade until the end. Unfortunately this went on to cost me -£12.15. The reason I never traded out any earlier, was because the trade out amount being offered wasn’t very good, all things considered. I think the highest I was offered was around the £3 profit mark. When the pay out potential was £10. I think there would have been a lot of traders in my position who would have done the same, so again I’m not too disappointed.
Spurs vs Leeds (Saturday)
Now I know I said that I wouldn’t trade this game, but after careful consideration I decided to go for it, and I’m glad that I did. As you can imagine, with the score going Leeds’ way, Spurs equalising, Leeds taking the lead again, etc, etc… you can kind of imagine my trades were blown out of the window. But fortunately, again, I decided to stay in the trade with only my AOH correct score intact. Thankfully Spurs managed to do the business to gain me a £7.82 profit, recovering some of my losses for the day.
Wolves vs Arsenal (Saturday)
The scorelines I chosen for this game were mainly based on an Arsenal win, although I did cover my arse a little in case Wolves were to spring a surprise. Thankfully the game went as I thought it would, having traded outright on a 0-2 Arsenal win. I was very thankful when Arsenal went two-nil up, and after what went on in my previous trades I decided to trade out and take a nice little green of £19.09. After the rollercoaster rides of the earlier games I welcomed the predictability of this game, and it’s always nice to end the day on a good green.
Fulham vs Man Utd (Sunday)
I only select a few scorelines for this game. And considering two of those scorelines were 1-1 and 1-2 you could say that the game went according to plan. When it went to 1-2 then I decided to leave the trade and end another day on a good green of £8.43.
Confession
So, what would I confess to my readers this week? I would possibly say my biggest lesson learnt this weekend is to trade out when you can, especially if you have liabilities that could occur, despite the probably of them occurring being very remote. I would say this cost me big for the Man City vs Brentford game, but again I’m not going to be too harsh on myself
In terms of what went well, I’m glad that I stayed in my trades longer and letting things breathe, even if it did cost me a bit of money. Sometimes I feel that I’m too quick to get out of a trade, and that the full potential of the trade isn’t recognised or realised. So I’m glad I’m a bit more relaxed in this aspect. I would say though that some of my selected scorelines help with this, as typically they surround a given scoreline, so if there is a quick follow-up goal I might possibly have it covered.
So that’s it for this week’s confession session. I have to say I’m rather pleased with my trades this weekend, but disappointed the Premier League has to give way for the World Cup. I probably won’t be trading any of the games in the World Cup, but that’s not to say that I won’t be updating this blog. I’m hoping to spend a bit of time looking at trading the horses pre-race and see what I can do there. I’ll also be trying to get some reading in to try and improve my trading mentality. I’m even going to be spending some time on my stats work to see if there’s any edges to be found, and to also rework my Bible to ensure it operates more fluidly than it currently is when selecting scorelines to trade. I’ll post my weekend trading results up in a post tomorrow. Until then, may the Lord be with you. Always!
