Using the Gods to beat the odds.

Not Long To Go Now…

It’s 10 days away from the restart of the Premier League, and I for one can’t wait for it to return! It’s been good having a break away from PL trading, especially after the mixed bag of results I was experiencing. I feel mentally refreshed, which I always do when taking a break from trading, and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead of correct score trading.

Before then, I probably need to have a look at my current statistics model, and try and get that working a lot smoother. I’ve put it together over the seasons and I’ve been adding bits to it over the years, but I’ve never really had any time to smooth the rough edges and make it run a lot more efficient than it currently is. I’ll hopefully have some time to have a look at the stats I’ve pieced together and see if there’s any edges to benefit from. But Christmas is a busy period, so I’m not holding out too much hope to be able to do all of that. The important thing is to keep moving forward and improving.

In the meantime, there’s a World Cup final to watch on Sunday, which should be a great encounter. I’m not sure who will come out on top, but for some reason I’m hoping it’s Argentina. Possibly I’m a bit of a Messi fan and from his performances he’s had a really good competition, and I think this will rightly crown him as being one of the greatest footballers of the modern era. In terms of betting/trading at the World Cup I’ve pretty much stayed away from it. I’ve had several small bets (£2) but nothing serious. And I’ve made sure I’ve placed the bets at a bookies separate from the one I typically use to do my correct score trading. I think having a bit more of a professional attitude has made me reluctant to just bet for betting’s sake, and I’m happy with that. There’s nothing wrong from having a few recreational bets but I tend to keep these to a minimum and the stakes I use are a lot smaller than my typical trading stakes. Fingers crossed for a good final anyway, and may the best team win.

Last thing before I disappear for another week or so. I’ve been involved in a Sky Super 6 correct score prediction league, which was going really well until they introduced predicting World Cup games. I had a look at my performance from the start of the season until the mid-season break, and by looking at the odds of the games, I found that I would possibly have been 27pts up! Which, when you consider my performance in actually trading correct scores, makes you ask why don’t I just straight bet my Super 6 predictions? It’s something that I’ve thought about whilst we’ve had this break from the Premier League, and it’s something that I’ll keep an eye on. I think I’ll even introduce a Super 6 section into my blog and report on my progress on a weekly basis.

Right – that’s it for now. All the best if you’re having a bet on the World Cup final. And may the Lord be with you….always!
