Hello my sports trading flock. Apologies for not posting sooner, but there hasn’t been much action on the trading front. I decided not to bother with the Man City vs Arsenal match as I couldn’t quite call it in the end so I decided not to bother. I was quite happy not betting as I wasn’t very confident on any selections. And this is one of the reasons I wanted to post tonight. For the two footballing seasons preceding this one, I would tend to try and trade a whole load of Premier League games, whether I was confident on the correct score or not. This wasn’t because I had any betting issues, but mainly it was to expose myself to the markets to gain valuable trading experience. It was better to do it when I was staking £2 a pop, before moving up to bigger stakes. This has helped me greatly in choosing the matches I want to trade. Now, if I look at a game and I can’t see a trade, then I just don’t bother. I just don’t see the point in trading for trading’s sake. I know there’s a lot of people who trade due to FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) but that’s just not me. There’s no point making good money on a well researched trade to just blow a good portion of it away on a risky or unprepared trade. Yes, you aren’t going to win all the trades that you undertake, but you can sure as hell tip the majority of them in your favour. So I would say this to others – if you’re not sure of the trade then it’s probably best to leave it well alone. For the trades I undertake I tend to find it takes me one and a half winnings trades to make back a losing trade, so I try and have that in mind before entering a trade just to make sure I’m entering the trade for the right reasons.
Also, I’ve mentioned in earlier blog posts about identifying potential trades for the following day, only to not bother trading them due to an unscheduled event popping up. Yes, it would be good to trade those games after putting the work in to identify them, but if you’re rushing to set your trades up, or if you’re not giving the trade your 100% attention, then I’d probably leave it well alone. It’s easier said than done when all you want to do is make money. Especially when you’re just starting out in this game, or when you’re chasing losses from a previous trade. The trades will come, you just need to stay patient, thoroughly research your next trade, and hopefully that’ll lead to more greens than reds.
Tonight I managed to trade the Man Utd vs Reading game, which resulted in a good green. I’m hoping to trade the Brighton vs Liverpool match in the early FA Cup game on Sunday. I’m looking at laying Liverpool again, but I’d have to see the line-up before fully committing. I think it’ll be a lot closer than the Premier League game earlier this month, but I can still see Brighton coming out on top. It seems weird typing that, but it just seems like Liverpool have fallen off a cliff lately. Good luck if you’re trading any football today. And may the Lord be with you. Always.
