Using the Gods to beat the odds.

Results For Week 17

Well, well, well. I was a tad bit worried presenting this weeks results to you my flockity-flock-flock, as I honesty thought that I would be posting a loss, especially after experiencing a £50 loss and a £76 loss. But what I forgot about were the trades that I did midweek for the Arsenal vs Everton game that brought in £71. This, coupled with the £117 from the Villa vs Crystal Palace match, meant that I was in profit of £37.46 for week 17:

I think there were a few mistakes that I made this week, and I possibly could have done a lot better than I did. But that’s me being Captain Hindsight. Although, I will say that I think I traded out of the Man Utd vs West Ham game a little too early, especially with the form United are currently in. I should have let the trade run a little more, but again that could be me speaking with the beauty of hindsight. The other trades I can’t really complain about. As you can see from the results, there was a bit of testing going on, with the only real success coming from the City vs Newcastle game.

As mentioned on Sunday, I wasn’t looking at trading the Liverpool vs Man Utd game as I couldn’t really call it. And as for the Nottingham Forest vs Everton game, I did say either a Forest win or a draw, but I was leaning more heavily towards a Forest win so I probably would have suffered a good red for that trade. Looking at the stats as the game neared kick off, I still couldn’t really call it so I decided to leave it well alone. Turns out I made the right call on both games. Sometimes it’s great to trade. The excitement. The thrill. But you should not be in the trading game for any of that. You should be in the trading game for making money. And after a while, making money should be boring and mundane as you repeat the same process again and again. And as I found out myself with the two games mentioned, in the majority of cases it’s best to leave a trade if you don’t feel that you can call it with any real confidence. I’ve never regretted a losing trade that I initially felt very confident in, as you can never win them all. However, I have felt guilty losing trades in a game I didn’t initially feel very confident in, or never did any prior research for. There’s a difference. One will lead you to financial ruin. Whilst the other will hopefully lead you to plenty of profit. Which leads me nicely onto my ‘Journey So Far…’ graph…

When I was doing the graph the other night, I realised that I was just plotting the amounts I made each week, rather than plotting the cumulative profit and loss for my entire journey. So, now the graph should present the cumulative P&L amount, whilst the table shows the weekly P&L amounts:

As you can see, I’m still on that upwards trajectory and hopefully this journey keeps going. I’m disappointed with this weeks profit, especially after suffering a £76 loss right at the end, but I think that’s a good measure of how far I’ve come. Without week 15 & 16, I would have been really happy posting a £37 profit considering I hadn’t previously got anywhere near this amount. But now I’ve had a taste of the 3-digit profits, I’m more and more determined to make more profit as time goes on (you can now guarantee that I’ll be posting a loss for week 18 – haha!), so that’s what I’ll be looking to do. I’ll probably leave the trading now until the weekend’s PL games, but if you are undertaking any trading then I wish you all the best of luck. And may the Lord be with you. As ever always.
